geboren 1975 im obersteirischen Mürzzuschlag, erster Posaunenunterricht im Alter von 10 Jahren an der Johannes Brahms Musikschule Mürzzuschlag. Studium an der Musikuniversität Wien wo er 2000 mit Diplom abschloss.
Solokonzert im Rahmen von „Musica Juventutis“ 1997 im Wiener Konzerthaus. 1998 Finalist beim Wettbewerb „Gradus ad Parnassum“ in Salzburg. Von September 1999 bis Juni 2004 Bassposaunist beim Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck. In dieser Zeit Mitglied des Posaunenquartetts „Die Innsbrucker Posaunen“. Seit Juli 2004 Engagement als Tenor- und Bassposaunist bei den Wiener Symphonikern. Konzerte mit Wiener Akademie, Wiener Concertverein, Vienna Symphonie Jazz Projekt, Austria Brass Connection u.a.
Was born in Mürzzuschlag (Styria) in 1975 and started playing trombone at the age of 10 at the Johannes Brahms Music School. He continued his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with professor Horst Küblböck, there receiving his final diploma in 2000. During his studies, Reinhard Hofbauer already performed very often as a solo trombonist, in this context granting chamber music an important position. From 1999 – 2004 he was a bass trombonist at the Tyrolian Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck.
Playing tenor and bass trombone, Reinhard Hofbauer is a firm member of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra since July 2004, with additional participation in concerts of the Wiener Akademie, the Clemecic Consort, the Johann Strauß Festival Orchester, the Vienna Symphony Jazz Project and the Austria Brass Connection.
